Just curious here. What's the backstory behind your username? I know some of them might not have any significance, but I'm sure some do. Mine is because I play tennis... And that's about it.
Have the WRX Concept for your time. (Why couldn't it have looked like this???)

Mine is the shortened version of the same username I've been using since I started visiting fora in 2007. I have a Triumph Trident which is a bit special, so I went by trident_special because I couldn't think of anything more imaginative at the time...

In 7th grade, I had some taco bell sauce packets in my lunch because I had mexican food. A friend of mine who was at the same table said out loud his food would be better with some, so without saying anything else I just said "Here you go" and tossed him a few. This led to a moment of silence followed by "What are you, the man with sauce today or something?" and then e-history was born.

I wanted a new username for one of the 944 forums, and I tried to think of the most random word I could, and then attach boom to the end of it.
However, according to urban dictionary:
Derived from an public service commercial aired during the 70's. The commercial describes Noah as the first to carpool. Kalaka is "ancient Babylonian" for carpool.
"Do you want to kalaka? I will have two extra seats in my minivan."
That+boom, I thought it was awesome.

As far as concept cars go, the WRX actually does look a lot like this... It's the recipe for ever concept car to production car change: un-chop roof, make headlights one-piece, make wheels and brakes smaller and more conservative. Done. Sorry I have this suspicion a lot of people are just repeating what they hear the first reactionists say.
Now, to answer the question: I was trying to come up with a username for my first forum, at age 16. Just as I opened the "create your account page" my friend asks me what would happen if you could successfully shift into reverse going at 70. I said with a blank stare: "imagine a grenade going off under your car". He just started rolling laughing on the ground, and I ran with it.

Mine started in the dark days of the early internet, 1993 or '94 it was, and I was a member of an elite cadre of 16 year old warez movers with distributed and hacked unix admin accounts running parallel SLiRP dialups and war-dialing to distribute copies of OS2 and leaked pre-releases of Win95, not to mention various Mac and Amiga(!) Warez... I had braces, so my handle was Jawz, with a Z because it was 'leet, and with an X because we were doing shit on SunOS and VAX/VMS and Ultrix and all those other System V derivitaves, so, y'know... X. Yeah, I've had this handle for almost 20 years, and I have a 3-digit Slashdot UID if anyone cares...

I was tired of using mitsuman like I do for pretty much any other car site I am on. And that came from a long time ago I was helping a buddy work on a 1st gen Talon. He had questions, I had answers, so he said, "What are you, some kind of mitsu man or something?"
I could not think of anything good otherwise when I signed up here, so I did RacecaR...BECAUSE PALINDROME!!
I actually did use mitsuman for a bit around here, but then i lost my burner sign in info, so had to start over. I think I was Old1 for awhile too.

I was nine, I liked Star Trek, and I needed a handle to play Battlefield 1942 at the local Internet Cafe/game shop/LAN. It started out as 'Capt Kirk' - though, for the record, I actually prefer Picard - and steadily morphed over time into what it is now. Honestly, I actually think it sounds pretty daft these days, but I've used it for so long, and on so many different services, that it'd be just far too much effort to change.

I loved the book Vurt. A lot. I have been using Gamecat or some variant there of since the mid 90's. I was unable to use just straight Gamecat or TheGameCat starting around '98, and I added the 235 as a nod to the illuminati/numerology conspiracies contained within the Illuminatus Trilogy. The Game Cat was the character who brought everything together on some levels, and who had all the knowledge, but was slow and cautious to share it. Wikipedia link to characters from Vurt .

When Wow! (a defunct internet service) started and offered unlimited use (as opposed to pay by the minute which was what everyone else was doing) back in the mid 90s I tried to get an account with my standard handle at the time (Spigot) and it was taken. So I just picked a character from a show I was watching at the time (Urusei Yatsura) and added 17 because that was a couple years older than I was...and I guess that made me cooler or something. The 81 is tacked on because I lost the password to the original at some point.

Well, I have a 1968 Mercury Montego MX and my favorite number is 562. Yes I have a 3 digit favorite number.
Origin of having a crazy ass 3 digit favorite number?
Very first season of the TV show "Survivor" (back when it was still cool) one person couldn't pick who to vote for, so they said pick a number between 1-1000 and you get my vote for a million.
I picked 562, the answer was 563...by price is right rules, that million is MINE!

My dad's nickname in HS was Dinger. I don't know why, probably because our last name is King? Well anyways the name was passed down to me. I'm Dinger's Ghost because my first Dinger account was Kinja'd and I couldn't get back into it. So I rose from the dead and made another account. The HWEP Addict because I constantly use the Hot Wheels Exchange here. The second half of my name changes every so often though.

I have an innate ability to find the weak link in virtually any design, often to farcical extremes. This usually results in an extensive, expensive repair... In my early 20s, a friend of mine was a tattoo artist's apprentice and he frequently did free ink. Now, at the time I was living in a trailer with a broken down car out front, working a shitty job at a cigarette store, driving a beat-to-shit 88 Isuzu pickup, and heavily self-medicating my clinical depression with cheap beer, benzodiazepines, and marijuana. My next door neighbor had a toilet out front with flowers growing out of it.
Anyway, after a drunken/high conversation with that friend, we decided to tattoo "white trash" across my beer gut. Anyway, Ernest Hemingway said once, "always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That way you'll learn to keep your mouth shut."
The next day, as I was nursing a hangover, I went to his tattoo shop and got the tattoo. It was not the best decision I have made in my life.
Also, my name is Steve.

It's a bastardization of my last name. My friends daughter, my goddaughter, (Sarah) had a speech impediment when she was young so she could not say my name. We used to play Wii together when I was at their house or when me and my wife babysat. When I wasn't around she would always tell her parents that she wanted to 'See Nubbin'. My first name is Chris so for the fun of it I made my gamer name CiiNubbin. Pronounced: See-Nub-in My friends all found out and started giving me grief about it, I didn't care. It's been my gamertag/user ID ever since.
All this time later she still calls me Nubbin.
